Day 2 - Update 12:30am

Today was a much better day.  We were able to get a good night's rest last night at the Ronald McDonald House and slowly get up this morning to go see our boy.

After visiting Bennett in the NICU, we returned to Waco to see our other little boy at home.  Oliver was very excited to see us, as we were to see him.

While home, Breck showed Oliver some of the pictures of "the baby" since Oliver is very fascinated by babies.  But it wasn't long before Oliver was either bored or weirded out by all the tubes surrounding "the baby."

At this point, we will continue to talk about "Baby Bennett" and "the baby" in hopes Oliver will eventually get used to the idea that someone else also belongs to us now.  However, ultimately, Oliver won't understand much of being a Big Brother until Little Brother comes home.

Bennett has been a beautiful pink all day today.  He has been having alot of wet diapers which is a great sign that his swelling from the surgery is going down.  Bennett was switched from fentanyl to morphine, which seems to make him more comfortable.  We *loved* getting to see Bennett move alittle more tonight.  He would flex his muscles more or wiggle his toes - both signs that he is feeling better.  His abdomen is still extended but not as much as before.  Basically, Bennett is stable and is starting to recover.

Overall, we began to feel more hopeful this evening after speaking with the doctor.  The only concerning thing is the thick mucus coming from Bennett's stomach.  It is a continued sign that he could have Cystic Fibrosis.  However, we won't really know for another few days.
