Cook Hospital Day 8 - Update 4:56pm

Thursday, November 19, 2009

This update is written by Breck as Brian has returned home to continue school work for now.

It's 5pm and we're...still waiting...

Dr. Ogunmola (Dr. O), Bennett's GI doc has not been in yet.  He is the one who ordered to stop Bennett's nightly feeds and start an IV last night.   We have been waiting for him to come see Bennett all day.

The feeds have been ordered to be stopped until he gives new orders (which he won' do until he makes his rounds).  I'm not sure why he hasn't come by.  Possibly it's intentional.  However, I'm anxious to hear the results of the ultrasound that Dr. O ordered for Bennett this morning.

Apparently, Dr. O wants to look to see if there is any obstruction in the bowel, possibly scar tissue from Bennett's ileostomy surgery.

I do not expect this ultrasound will show anything but my heart secretly hopes it does...not because I want something to be wrong but because I want something to help us make this all right.

I will soon grab dinner at the hospital cafeteria downstairs.  An entire week of eating at "Sir Eats Alot" cafeteria is getting old.  I could get in my car and look for new options but walking to my car alone only more reminds me I'm alone.  So, I'm content to try something new on the cafeteria menu.

Fortunately, Brian will be arriving and spending the night before he flys to go on an important work/school trip this weekend.

Until then...I'm still waiting...

  1. I wish I could be there to wait, cry and eat with you, girl. But remember, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. God is with you every step of the way. However, I can only imagine how much you would love to have a shoulder to cry on or a hand to hold. I'm just now catching up on the blog and it seems you've had a gut-wrenching week. My heart aches for you. I pray that God gives you strength and helps heal your aching heart. I pray that He heals Bennett's pain and that you get answers soon.

Hang in there, dear friend, and know that you are loved.
