By Faith

Wednesday, November 11, 2009

Recently, our friend Ed, a pastor at The Rock (our church in college) gave a sermon to college students about Faith using Hebrews chapter 11.

In preparation for his talk, Ed contacted us to see if he could use our story of Bennett in his talk.  Ed wanted to use his talk to encourage college students to start building their faith now, in college.  As a way to help college students begin to do so, he asked the students to write "By Faith" statements (like those in Hebrews 11).

He asked us to write one too.  We were glad to do so as we hope it's a faith statement of which we can continue to remind ourselves when we are doubting God's goodness.

So, here is our "By Faith" statement:

By faith we choose to believe that the God of life has the last word on our son's life, not his diagnosis.
By faith we cling to the hope that God is redeeming all things, though we cannot always see how.
By faith we accept our son as a gift from God, not a burden to bare, and choose to believe that God gives us only good things.

"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." (Hebrews 11:1)
How we long to be faithful during this time.  Our prayer is this: God draw near to us.

One Response to “By Faith”

  1. What a testimony your faith is. Praise God for His hope. My prayer is that you would "dwell in the shelter of the most high and rest in the shadow of the almighty." Psalm 91:1
